RSG Structures are proud to be Authorised Dealers of Guard-All Tensioned Membrane Buildings

Guard-All Building Solutions are industry leaders in design, engineering and manufacture of tensioned fabric buildings. Being a dealer allows RSG Structures to provide architects and building owners with a flexible, cost-effective alternative to more traditional building designs. The versatile steel framed tension fabric buildings are available in arched or gabled clear span profiles which fulfill a wide range of building requirements. The buildings are designed to be rapidly deployed and constructed as permanent or temporary structures with a variety of foundation options available.

Steel and Membranes

Steel Trusses
The buildings consist of steel trusses set out at predetermined centres depending on the buildings location. Our engineers take this location and factor in localised wind speed and snow loadings. These will also give us the figures required to engineer the foundations or walls that the building is fixed to.

All our fabricated steel truss components are hot-dip galvanised; a process of coating the steel with a thin zinc layer, by passing the metal through a molten bath of zinc at a temperature of around 860 °F (460 °C). When exposed to the air, the pure zinc reacts with oxygen to form zinc oxide, which further reacts with carbon dioxide to form zinc carbonate, a durable spangled grey finish that prevents corrosion and protects the steel from the elements. Our hot-dip galvanising process conforms to the ASTM A123 standard.

Tensioned Fabric Membranes
The standard architectural membrane material used is NovaShield® II with ArmorKote", available as a standard or fire-rated material. Alternate fabrics like PVC, Sheerfill and Shadeshure® are available for jobs requiring those materials.

NovaShield II with ArmorKote - RU88X-6 4 mil (standard)
Nova-Shield II RU88X-6 4 mil is a heavyweight fabric for applications requiring UV stability, The scrim is produced in a special weaving pattern to enhance thickness, flatness, abrasion resistance, and tear properties. The proprietary coating is used to enhance abrasion resistance, flex resistance, seam strength, UV resistance and longevity.

NovaShield II with ArmorKote - FRU88X-6 4 mil (fire-rated)
The fire rated fabric is the same specification as the standard, but uses natural FR/UV tapes in the woven scrim. This makes the resulting sheet 0.59mm thick as opposed to the 0.50mm of the standard sheet. There are also some minor restricitons on the number of colours available in the fire rated fabric. This product meets the requirements of NFPA 701-1989 (large and small scale) and 1996 (tests 1 & 2), CAN/ULC S109-M87 (small and large scale), CAN/ULC S102-03, CAN/ULC S102.2-03, ASTM E84-00a (Class 1), UBC31-1, California Fire Marshall (F-51405).

  • Membrane structures are warmer in winter and cooler in summer due to the non conductive properies of the covering membrane.

  • The buildings are brighter internally as the translucent properties of the membrane allow a huge amount of sunlight in. This is beneficial in that:
    • Stock housed within these structures enjoy better welfare leading to higher yeilds.
    • Lower maintenance and operational costs, as lighting requirements are greatly reduced or non-existanst dependant on building use.
Before and After
  • The fabric dampens sound waves for a calm, hushed atmosphere instead of reflecting and creating echo effects.

  • The building is more corrosion resistant with the cover not containing any metal components allowing much better exposure to water, air and salt environments.

  • The building frame being manufactured using galvanised as standard gives excellent levels of durability.

  • The membrane covers are virtually maintenance free and do not trap dust or dirt, nor do they require painting and or re-cladding to maintain a clean appearance.
