Tensioned membrane agricultural buildings are among the most cost-effective constructions for several reasons. Not only are the pre-made materials relatively cheap but they are very quick to build, reducing labour costs, and easy to deliver which also reduces transport costs.

The membrane itself is supported by galvanised steel roof trusses. Barns made in this way can either be designed with the membrane starting at ground level, with the trusses supported in concrete foundations, or – if the walls themselves are likely to take a bit of a battering from vehicles, livestock or fodder – they can be attached to a precast or prestressed concrete walls.

At RSG, we are totally independent of all our suppliers, which means we provide farmers with totally impartial advice on the materials and design based on our experience and know-how.

Tensioned membrane buildings are strong enough to bear heavy snow fallsWe can simply supply the materials required for tensioned membrane agricultural buildings but we do offer a full construction package too, including design, sourcing materials, all groundwork and the final build. This makes it easier for our customers as RSG becomes the only point of contact. And it leaves us free to get on and do what we do best ie manage concrete and tensioned membrane construction projects.
